About our Program
4th grade is the portal into MISD’s orchestral program. Welcome – and we hope your student is excited about becoming a part of the orchestra!
During the 4th graders’ music class (focused on recorders) they will be introduced to classical music and the different instruments: violin, viola, cello and bass. They will have several opportunities to play with the instruments. In the spring, they will travel to the middle school to hear the 7th and 8th grade orchestra play.
The students will choose 2 different instruments and try them out. Under the guidance of their instructor, they will register for 5th grade orchestra with the instrument of choice for the fall of their 5th grade year.
